Assisting Churches in Planting Churches

Strengthening Church Leaders through

Resources, Conferences, & Fellowships

In 2000, the NTBA was formed to counter a growing trend among Texas Baptist associations to moderate their doctrinal statements to allow churches of both state conventions a seat at the association "table." At the time, some churches were casting aside portions of the Baptist Faith & Message and objected to some of the revisions of the new 2000 edition of the BF&M. Inerrancy of Scripture and other conservative doctrinal beliefs became secondary issues. This made some pastors uncomfortable about the moderate view being embraced by many churches and associations.

Starting with seven churches, the NTBA is currently affiliated with over eighty churches and many church plants. The NTBA is a fellowship of churches centered around the authority and inerrancy of Scripture, adopting its core expression of faith from the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. It also affirms the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy and partners with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention.
